Frequently Asked Questions

  • Nope! The core of Salsa Mama Studios’ mission is joyful movement. All of our classes utilize beginner level choreography that aims to strengthen those muscles needed for carrying, birthing, and recovering after welcoming your little one. Our instructors will walk you through each step to keep your body moving and engaged! These classes are designed to accommodate all types of birthing bodies.

  • Think of your labor as a marathon and we are helping you train. In most cases, the strength and preparedness of your mind, core and pelvic muscles, and facilitated movement affect the ease and duration of your birth. Our prenatal classes will include choreography, movements, and education to help develop those muscles and mentalities necessary for labor. Our goal is to build up your strength while also alleviating some discomforts of pregnancy you may be experiencing such as constipation, fatigue, and bloating. Our classes also focus on facilitating connections between yourself and other expecting parents in your community through our discussions and learning portions of our classes.

    After labor, your body is in full-on recovery mode. Our postpartum classes are designed to target the areas most affected by giving birth, both vaginally and by cesarean. We’ll use choreography and movements that allow you to gently recover your pelvic floor, connect with your baby and partner, and reconnect with yourself. We’ll also focus on important moments in you and your babies growth post-labor such as repairing the diastasis recti, newborn care, lactation, and more.

  • We strongly recommend you complete your courses prior to your 36th week of pregnancy. At any time, we may offer both drop-in classes and series-long packages. Be advised when scheduling your Salsa Mama class(es) that you do not schedule a prenatal package that extends beyond your due date. We will not refund any payment due to labor after your 36th week which is considered full term, however, any missed classes due to birth can be transferred to an equivalent Salsa Baby class once approved for dance by your doctor.

  • We're so excited to have you! To get the most out of your Salsa Mama class, please be prepared with the following items for our class:

    - Arrive 10 minutes early to get checked-in with our staff, and YES we have restrooms!

    - Please no fragrances!

    - Wear comfortable and secure athletic ware.

    - Wear a good pair of clean, white-soled shoes you can dance in.

    - Bring a baby carrier if babe is on the outside (a hard-structured carrier is better to dance with than wraps, and babies must be worn at all times).

    - Bring all on-the-go baby necessities if applicable. Changing diapers and nursing during class is welcome!

    - Bring water with electrolytes and a snack for yourself.

  • Salsa Mama Studios, LLC cannot be responsible for providing make-ups or issuing any credit for classes missed as a result of scheduling conflicts, vacations, illness (including COVID 19), emergencies, or other circumstances beyond our control.

    In order to cancel a reservation for a dance class and return it to your account, you must cancel no less than 8 hours prior to the class.Once your reservation is cancelled, the class will be returned to your account to be used at a future date; the class will not be refunded. If you haven’t cancelled within the stated time frame, your scheduled class will be charged to your series.

  • You can start Salsa Mama classes at any time during your pregnancy so long as your doctor has considered it permissible. We do recommend starting classes as soon as possible in order to get the most out of our classes which include core and pelvic floor strengthening, birth preparation, and emotional and community support.

    For postpartum classes, we recommend that you begin Salsa Baby and/or Salsa Family classes after receiving approval for fitness activity by your doctor, typically 6 weeks after birth.

    For the safety of yourself, your family members, and your classmates, babies must be worn in carriers at all times. Unfortunately, if your baby can/will no longer stay in a carrier, or you are unable to carry your baby for the allotted class time, you do not meet the legal and safety qualifications to participate in any postpartum Salsa Mama Studios classes.

You will be required to complete this form in order to indicate you understand our liability and permissions policy upon scheduling a class with us.

  • Liability Waiver and Permissions Release Form

    PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING

    By signing this agreement, I acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating in salsa dance classes and related programs (“Activities”) offered by Salsa Mama Studios LLC. These Activities may involve physical movement, including dance, stretching, lifting, and interaction with other participants, and I understand and accept the inherent risks involved.

    1. Assumption of Risk

    I understand that participation in any physical activity involves certain risks, including but not limited to bodily injury, property damage, and in rare cases, death. I voluntarily assume all such risks, known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of others, and accept full responsibility for my participation in these Activities.

    2. Release and Waiver of Liability

    I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives, and next of kin, hereby release and hold harmless Salsa Mama Studios LLC, its officers, instructors, employees, contractors, agents, volunteers, and the landlord of the property where classes are held (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, losses, or damages on account of personal injury (including death), property damage, or loss arising out of or related to my participation in any class, program, or event offered by Salsa Mama Studios LLC.

    I agree that I will not initiate any claim, demand, or lawsuit against the Released Parties, and waive my right to do so, arising from or related to any injury or damages incurred during participation.

    3. Personal Property

    I understand that Salsa Mama Studios LLC is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of personal belongingsbrought to class, including but not limited to strollers, diaper bags, purses, phones, and personal effects.

    4. Medical Responsibility and Disclaimer

    I understand that it is my responsibility to consult with a qualified healthcare provider regarding any concerns, limitations, or conditions I may have prior to participating in any class or program offered by Salsa Mama Studios LLC. This includes but is not limited to pregnancy-related conditions, postpartum recovery, physical injuries, and general health concerns.

    I acknowledge and agree that Salsa Mama Studios LLC instructors are not certified medical professionals, and that any guidance, instruction, or information provided during classes is for general fitness and educational purposes only. It is not intended to constitute or substitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. I agree not to rely on such information for medical decision-making and understand that I should consult a healthcare provider for medical concerns.

    I further acknowledge that the physical activity involved in Salsa Mama Studios LLC classes may cause or aggravate existing physical injuries or medical conditions. I knowingly and voluntarily accept full responsibility for any such injury, condition, or aggravation that may result from participation and fully assume all associated risks, whether known or unknown, even if caused in whole or in part by the action, inaction, or negligence of the Released Parties.

    4A. Infant and Babywearing Safety Acknowledgment

    I understand that participation in Salsa Mama Studios LLC classes may involve physical activity while I am pregnant or carrying my baby in a baby carrier. I acknowledge that the use of a baby carrier and participation in physical activity while carrying my child involves inherent risks, including but not limited to strain, falls, improper carrier use, or accidental injury to myself or my baby.

    I acknowledge that it is my sole responsibility to ensure the safety and proper use of any babywearing equipment I choose to use, and that I am responsible for determining whether my baby is developmentally and physically ready to participate in such activities.

    I understand and agree that Salsa Mama Studios LLC and its instructors are not responsible or liable for any harm, injury, or condition that may occur to my baby or unborn child during or as a result of participation in these Activities. I accept full personal responsibility and risk for the safety and well-being of my child during all classes, whether carried, held, or otherwise present.

    5. Image and Media Release

    I hereby grant permission to Salsa Mama Studios LLC to photograph, video record, or otherwise capture my image, likeness, and/or voice (as well as those of my child/children, if applicable) in connection with the Activities. I authorize Salsa Mama Studios LLC to use these images and recordings, with or without my name, for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to marketing, promotional materials, social media, websites, educational content, and commercial use.

    I waive any right to inspect or approve the final product, including written or electronic copy, and I release Salsa Mama Studios LLC from any liability or claim that I or my representatives may have in connection with such use, including any claims of alteration, distortion, or fictionalization, whether intentional or otherwise.

    6. Cancellation Policy

    I understand and agree to the following cancellation policy:

    • Salsa Mama Studios LLC cannot be responsible for providing make-ups or issuing credit for classes misseddue to scheduling conflicts, vacations, illness (including COVID-19), emergencies, or other circumstances beyond its control.

    • To cancel a reservation and return the class credit to my account, I must cancel at least 8 hours prior to the scheduled class time.

    • Once my reservation is successfully cancelled within this window, the class credit will be returned to my account for future use. Refunds will not be issued.

    • If I do not cancel within the required time frame, the class will be deducted from my series or package and will not be returned or credited.

    7. Acknowledgement of Age and Understanding

    I affirm that I am of legal age (18 years or older) and fully competent to sign this agreement. I have read this Liability Waiver and Permissions Release Form thoroughly, understand its contents, and sign it voluntarily. I acknowledge that by signing this document, I may be waiving certain legal rights, including the right to sue.
